Benjamin Vanston was born and raised in Huntington, West Virginia. He attended Marshall University for his undergraduate studies, obtaining a Bachelor’s of the Arts degree in Economics, graduating cum laude in 2018. While at Marshall, Benjamin took an active interest in the community, serving as a residence counselor with the Health Sciences and Technology Academy (HSTA), a mentoring program which helps students facing social and financial challenges garner an interest in the STEM fields.

After his undergraduate studies, Benjamin attended the West Virginia College of Law, obtaining his J.D. in May of 2021. He received a CALI Award in Constitutional Law his 1L year. Additionally, Benjamin was an Associate Editor on Issue 123 of the West Virginia Law Review. During his 3L year, his student note, Putting Together the Pieces: The Mosaic Theory and Fourth Amendment Jurisprudence Since Carpenter, was selected for publication. Benjamin also served as an executive board member of the Democratic Law Caucus and the Labor & Employment Law Society.

In his spare time, Benjamin enjoys reading, running, biking, and spending time with friends and family. He is an avid follower of sports, including his alma mater, Marshall University.
