Education

  • Capital University Law School, Columbus, OH, 2023, J.D.
  • West Virginia University, Morgantown, West Virginia, 2015, B.S.

Adam Daugherty was born in Richmond, Virginia and raised in Belle, West Virginia. He attended West Virginia University for his undergraduate studies, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration in 2015. Post-undergrad, he entered the workforce and attained several years of management experience with a popular West Virginia-based organization. Adam then seized an opportunity to spend a year in Los Angeles, California from 2017-2018.

It was during this time in Los Angeles that Adam rekindled his love for the mountain state, planned his return home, and contemplated a return to academia. He took the LSAT while living on the west coast; however, he would not officially apply to law school for a handful of years. In 2018, upon his return to WV, he became a multi-state licensed property & casualty insurance producer and worked to develop one of the fastest-growing insurance brokerages in the state—Capital Insurance Group. The urge to acquire his J.D. reemerged when he and his wife learned that they were expecting their first son in the summer of 2019.

Adam enrolled at Capital University Law School (Columbus, Ohio) in fall of 2020 and earned his J.D. in spring of 2023. Throughout his education, he received considerable academic awards and honors, including Cum Laude graduation honors, an invitation to Volume 150 of the Capital University Law Review, a CALI award for his Judicial Opinion Writing course, and Dean’s List designation awards for 5 of his 6 semesters.

Adam’s spare time is dedicated extensively to his family—his wife and two sons. One month before his 3L finals, he and his wife, Katey, welcomed their second son into their little family. Adam and Katey enjoy traveling to new West Virginia destinations with their boys and spending quality time with extended family.
