A native of West Virginia, Austin was born in Bluefield, WV, before moving at a young age to Shady Spring, WV, where he remains today. In high school, Austin was a multi-sport athlete lettering in football, basketball, baseball, and track. Austin received multiple scholarship offers to compete at the collegiate level in both football and track but was unable to accept due to a major shoulder injury suffered during his senior year.

Austin decided to pursue his undergraduate studies at West Virginia University in Morgantown, WV, where he earned a bachelor's degree in Exercise Physiology. During undergrad, Austin completed over 250 hours of community service for WVU and local organizations. Following graduation, Austin worked at Pro Performance Rx in Morgantown, West Virginia, as a Strength and Conditioning Coach. There, most of his time was spent training athletes within the West Virginia Black Bears organization, who was the Pittsburgh Pirates Class A affiliate, at that time. In conjunction, Austin worked with Pro Performance’s Pro Medical Rehabilitation with an emphasis in hydrotherapy athletic rehabilitation. After a year, Austin decided to leave strength training behind to pursue a career in the legal field.

Austin attended the Appalachian School of Law in Grundy, Virginia, on an academic scholarship where he earned his Juris Doctorate and Juris Master’s and graduated with honors. During his time at ASL, he served as a law clerk at the Supreme Court of Virginia under the Honorable (Ret.) Justice Elizabeth McClanahan. Austin was a member of the Environmental and Mineral Law Society, Moot Court Team, and the Republican Law Society. Additionally, Austin served as an ASL Ambassador for new students, SBA Student Activities Council Representative, and served as the SBA Pharmacy School Outreach Representative.

Prior to graduating with his J.D. from ASL, he began working at Pullin, Fowler, Flanagan, Brown & Poe, PLLC in Beckley, West Virginia, as a law clerk in the spring of 2021. Following graduation, Austin accepted a full-time position with the firm. He then passed the West Virginia Uniform Bar Examination and was admitted to the West Virginia State Bar and admitted in the United States District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia. As an associate attorney, Austin has been exposed to a wide array of litigation matters, with an emphasis on representing clients in education law, employment law, insurance defense, and civil rights litigation.

In his spare time, Austin enjoys coaching, powerlifting, and spending time with friends and family. He is an avid fan of all West Virginia Mountaineers athletics and attends multiple sporting events each year.
