Johnnie Brown Speaks at Second WV Public Safety Expo

Charleston, WV (May 2009) Johnnie Brown, Pullin, Fowler, Flanagan, Brown and Poe, PLLC, along with guest speakers, Sam Faulkner and Dr. David Clayman, presented “EMOTIONAL SURVIVAL IN THE WORKPLACE” at the second annual West Virginia Public Safety Expo held at the Charleston Civic Center on Thursday, May 14 -16.  During the event, classes were offered for law enforcement, EMS, telecommunicators, emergency managers, firefighters and public safety officials.  Hundreds of police officers, fire fighters, emergency medical personnel and other emergency responders from around the state were in Charleston for this educational and informative event.

Mr. Brown’s presentation stems from PFFB&P’s “Ethics in Law Enforcement” program previously presented to the Charleston Police Department in March 2008.  That program was approved by the West Virginia Bureau of Criminal Justice Services and was so well received by prior participants that we were requested to present the second seminar, “EMOTIONAL SURVIVIAL IN THE WORKPLACE”.

The firm also operated a marketing booth display that was manned by Jim Muldoon and Carrie Dysart.  
Keynote speakers included former West Virginia firefighter and current Roseville, Minn., Fire Chief Richard Gasaway, motivational speaker Steve Gilliland and firefighter and author Michael Staley.
Twenty-one instructors presented classes at the expo, including Kenneth D. Honig, commander of the Port Authority Police at John F. Kennedy International Airport, who recently helped lead the emergency response to the Hudson River landing of US Airways Flight 1549. Other presenters include Kentucky State Medical Examiner David Jones, FBI agents, firefighters and psychologists.
