Evelyn (Lynn) C. Photiadis was born in 1960, in Brookings, South Dakota. Her family moved to Morgantown, West Virginia, where she grew up and attended Morgantown High School. Ms. Photiadis attended West Virginia University where she obtained a Bachelor of Science in Journalism degree (Magna Cum Laude), with a minor in Political Science. During her undergraduate studies, Ms. Photiadis was a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority, where she served as the philanthropy chair. She also worked for the WVU development office assisting in its fundraising efforts.
Ms. Photiadis received her Doctor of Jurisprudence from West Virginia University College of Law in 1986. She is a member of the West Virginia State Bar Association. Ms. Photiadis is admitted to practice law before the Supreme Court of Appeals of West Virginia, the United States District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia, and the United States District Court for the Northern District of West Virginia. Following her graduation from law school, Ms. Photiadis accepted a clerkship with the West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals in Charleston, West Virginia. After completing her service as a Clerk with the Supreme Court, Ms. Photiadis joined the law firm of Bowles, Rice, McDavid, Graff & Love in Charleston, West Virginia, where she became an equity partner focusing her practice on workers' compensation defense and regulatory law.
Throughout her career, Ms. Photiadis has counseled and defended clients in virtually all aspects of workers' compensation defense. She has successfully defended thousands of workers' compensation claims in litigation before the Office of Judges and on appeal before the Board of Review and Supreme Court. She also has experience representing clients in regulatory matters before the West Virginia Public Service Commission. As someone with authoritative knowledge about her area of practice, Ms. Photiadis has been asked to speak to other lawyers and claims personnel at continuing legal education seminars.
Upon returning to Morgantown, Ms. Photiadis became a member of Pullin, Fowler, Flanagan, Brown & Poe, PLLC in May, 2011, where she continues to devote her practice to workers' compensation defense. As a member with expertise in workers' compensation defense, Ms. Photiadis has become an important part of the firm's continuing commitment to provide quality service to clients. While Ms. Photiadis is a tough, successful litigator, her substantial experience and knowledge also provide her with the insight needed to negotiate a fair resolution -- when negotiation is the better course -- and to counsel clients when she identifies ways to improve their work and safety practices.
