Michael L. Graves, Jr. was born in Savannah, Georgia on August 2, 1978. He was admitted to the West Virginia Bar in 2005. He currently resides in Beckley, West Virginia. In the winter months, he participates as a snowboard instructor at Winterplace Ski Resort in Ghent, West Virginia. Mr. Graves began his legal career upon graduation from West Virginia University's College of Law. Prior to attending West Virginia University, Mr. Graves attended Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, Georgia, where he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree in Human Resource Management. Following graduation from Georgia Southern University, Mr. Graves attended Winthrop University in Rock Hill, South Carolina, where he earned a Master of Business Administration Degree. While enrolled in graduate studies, he focused primarily on operations management and project management. While attending West Virginia University College of Law in 2005, he began working as a law clerk for Pullin, Fowler & Flanagan's Morgantown Division. Mr. Graves joined the firm as a full-time associate in August 2005 at the firm's Beckley Division. While employed at the Beckley Division, Mr. Graves has litigated a wide spectrum of various civil and criminal matters. In particular, he has handled misdemeanor and felony criminal matters, abuse and neglect proceedings, construction litigation and liens, civil rights litigation, personal injury defense, asbestos litigation, municipality defense, educational law, consumer protection defense, employment law, and fraud defense. Mr. Graves has also been trained in basic mediation through the West Virginia Bar Association.
