Mr. Calhoun is a lifelong resident of West Virginia. He attended Oak Hill High School, where he graduated with honors. During his high school career Mr. Calhoun twice made the All-State cross country team and served as editor of the school newspaper. In 2006 he graduated magna cum laude from the Perly Isaac Reed School of Journalism at West Virginia University. The same year Mr. Calhoun was also named Outstanding News Editorial Senior for his work for the Fairmont Times West Virginian as part of his journalism capstone course. Mr. Calhoun continued his education at West Virginia University, graduating from the College of Law in 2009. Later that year Mr. Calhoun earned admission to the practice of law and opened his own office in Fayette County. His practice consisted primarily of criminal law and other court appointed work. In August 2010, Mr. Calhoun accepted an offer to serve as law clerk to the Honorable Booker T. Stephens in McDowell County, West Virginia. He served as law clerk to Judge Stephens until the end of November 2011 when he joined Pullin, Fowler, Flanagan, Brown & Poe, PLLC. Mr. Calhoun is a Mountaineer football season ticket holder and an avid fan of the San Antonio Spurs in the NBA. In his spare time he enjoys staying physically active. In addition to participating in basketball and Crossfit he continues to run competitively, winning the West Virginia University College of Law’s annual 5k in 2009 and 2010 and the Charleston Distance Run 5K in 2011. He also enjoys music and playing guitar in his free time.
