Jessica L. Cook is the daughter of an elementary school principal and a middle school teacher. Both of her parents were first generation college students and inspiring educators. They instilled in her a passion for education and a deep love for the State of West Virginia. Ms. Cook graduated from Westside High School in Wyoming County, West Virginia, in 2004. She enrolled at Concord University in the Fall of 2004 on full scholarship. At Concord, Jessica was engaged in nearly all aspects of campus life. She was the Arts and Entertainment Editor for The Concordian Newspaper, an elected member of the West Virginia Advisory Council of Students, a member of Phi Alpha Delta Pre-Law Fraternity, and an active member of Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority. In Spring 2007, Jessica was elected Student Body President of Concord University. Jessica graduated magna cum laude from Concord in Spring 2008.
Jessica began her legal education at the West Virginia University College of Law in Fall 2008. In addition to her law degree, Jessica also pursued a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership with an emphasis in Higher Education Administration. Notably, during her time at WVU, Jessica interned for the General Counsel of the West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission, clerked for the Beckley Office of PFFB&P, interned in the office of WVU Student Legal Services, and interned in Washington, D.C. for the Contempt Litigation and Compliance Branch of the National Labor Relations Board. Jessica was also privileged to serve as an elected representative of her class and the Student Bar Association. In May 2011, Jessica graduated in the top third of her law school class with distinction in Pro Bono Community Service. She joined the law firm of Pullin, Fowler, Flanagan, Brown, and Poe in their Beckley, West Virginia office on August 8, 2011.
In her spare time, Jessica serves as an advisor to Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority at Concord University. She is also a member of Concord University’s Alumni Association Executive Council.
