Erik began his education at West Virginia University in 1988. Following his undergraduate work, he immediately entered WVU College of Law. He was fortunate enough to watch the WVU Mountaineers play for two national titles on the football field. He was not lucky enough to see them win either game. He was admitted to the practice of law in 1995. He is a member of the West Virginia State Bar, the West Virginia Bar Association, the Kanawha County Bar Association, and the Defense Research Institute. He is admitted to practice before the West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals, the United States District Court of the Northern and Southern Districts of West Virginia. He has argued before the West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. Erik is also licensed and admitted to practice law in the State of Kentucky. Erik began his legal career in 1995 with the law firm of Jackson & Kelly where he practiced civil defense litigation and Workers' Compensation. In 1996, he came to Pullin, Fowler & Flanagan. He has represented clients in all aspects of civil defense litigation with an emphasis on school law where he is head of the Education Department. Erik was born on December 26, 1969 in Charleston, West Virginia. He remained a native West Virginia, growing up in beautiful Summersville, where his parents John and Sallie still reside. Erik now resides in Charleston with his wife, Connie and his children Jack, Amelia and Sam. On good days, he claims his dogs Maddie and Abby.
